This has to be the most convenient location in DC, though the hotel doesn't do a great job at making that clear so let me help you here.Report
From DCA you can take the subway straight to L'efant, follow directions through L'efant plaza and then there is an elevator to the hotel lobby - no need to even step outside. The problem we found is the L'efant mall is really only open m-f during basically bank hours, very limited. So if you come back at 8pm on a Saturday from the subway you'll need to call mall security and they will let you through the mall to the hotel. This is not clear at all, we didn't find out till the last night and had to walk about 1/2 mile from the main subway entrance outside to the hotel a few times. The DC subway is pretty good, a good layout and marked clear, but is dated and doesn't have elevators everywhere necessary for handicap or stroller access. From the hotel you can be right in center of the national mall or very close to the white house, Chinatown, really anywhere without having to walk which was nice in the very cold weather when we visited.
Also there is a Wharf loop circulator bus that stops right by the hotel and makes a loop to the wharf, to the National mall, and back by the hotel. We used this to get to the wharf where there is great food. It's walkable too, but not a nice walk.
Our room was nice, clean, and comfortable. The hotel accomidateded us with a crib for our infant and cleaned the room every day.
The only real negative I can give is the L'efant mall is really useless. I guess it's open only from about 10-7 M-F and even then it's kind of dead with most businesses shut down. Though this isn't really against the hotel itself

A beautiful hotel situated right in the middle of everything a visitor might want to see (in fact, the Spy Museum is basically right outside the front doors). The staff was superb and friendly. The in-house bar and grill had a delicious menu and accommodating waitstaff, and the rooms were clean, modern, and comfortable. I couldn't have asked for a better stay in DC.Report
My stay has been very pleasant. Definitely will return.Report

Nice and upscale. The room was clean, and staff were very friendly. We had trouble finding food in the area, even with the food court it never seemed to be open when we wanted it. But the hotel itself was beautiful!Report
Confortable, modern, and conveninent to exploring DC. L'Enfant Plaza shopping and metro is readily acessible downstairs and it's less than 10 min walk to the National Mall. Rooms looked recently renovated and having a fu Starbucks downstairs was also quite convenient.Report
